The Leach Pottery hosts regular residencies from master potters from around the world. Most recent of these was Ryoji Koie in June 2010. Koie spent three weeks working alongside our studio team creating his own unique pieces and holding a master class in the Leach Pottery studio. Work from this residency is on display at the Leach Pottery and at Galerie Besson in London. For more details of his London exhibition click here.

TOMOO HAMADA (Japan) - March to April 2009
Supported by Japan-UK 150
This residency marked the first anniversary of the Leach Pottery's reopening. Tomoo Hamada, grandson of Shoji Hamada, co-founder of the Leach Pottery and third generation potter, joined the team in St Ives to make work and to create his first one man show in the UK. During his ten day stay Tomoo made more than 100 pieces, some within the Leach Pottery's new studio and some at the studios of ex-Leach potters John Bedding and Jason Wason. The resulting pieces were displayed in the Leach Pottery gallery.
