Photo Competition
Leach Pottery MUG SHOTS photo competition
Where do you use your Leach Pottery mug or bowl? At work? At home? In the garden? Out fishing? Does it stay safely at home in your kitchen, or has your Leach pot travelled the world? The Leach Pottery is inviting its customers to send in photos of their Leach pottery so that they can see for themselves all the different places, hands and locations Leach pots end up in.
The Leach Pottery studio started producing its new range of tableware in 2009 – shortly after the restored historic site reopened to the public. The tableware is designed by Lead Potter, Jack Doherty and made on site by Jack and his international team of young potters. Apprentices have always been trained on site under the Leach tradition and the workshops have been home to some of the most influential potters of the 20th century.
New Leach tableware is made from locally sourced clay in soda-glazed stoneware. Inspired by the landscape and coastline of the Penwith peninsula, each piece is completely individual, unique in colour and texture, united by form and function. The range continues a legacy of producing high quality studio pottery and following the philosophy of Bernard Leach who believed that functional everyday objects should also be beautiful.
The competition runs until February 17th. For rules and details see below. A selection of images will be posted on the Leach Pottery website and Facebook page and the two winning photos will receive £100 in new Leach tableware from the pottery shop.
Please submit your image(s) to The Leach Pottery ‘Mug Shots’ Competition 2012 either by email to office@leachpottery.com (jpeg) or on disk/as a hard copy to The Leach Pottery, Higher Stennack, St Ives, Cornwall TR26 2HE.
