We love working with local communities and creating exciting opportunities for people to work in clay and participate in something unique. Here are a few examples of projects we are done recently. If you have an idea for a project or want to be kept in touch with future projects please contact us.
Smeatons Pier, St Ives
Many local people from St Ives came along to the Leach Pottery on Saturday 12 March 2016 and helped us to decorate tiles for a new mural we are creating for Smeatons Pier.
The mural will decorate the pier’s newly refurbished sheltered seating area as part of the St Ives regeneration project.
A collaborative ‘Walking Impressions’ arts and wellbeing project for people living with dementia in the St Ives area.
The project invites dementia sufferers and their carers to get outdoors and engage with nature, enhancing their physical and mental wellbeing and reducing isolation and loneliness.
Local Schools-Viking Boat Project
Working with the local St Ives Junior School we currently have been making Viking Boats with Year 5 students, after the successful project last year and making Greek Pots with Year 4, using terracotta clay, hand-building techniques and and mark making.
