During the first week of the St Ives September Festival, potter Philip Leach - grandson of Bernard and son of Michael Leach - will be resident in the old pottery workshop making a new 'Owl Charger' for the restored fireplace at the Leach Pottery.
Philip came to pottery 35 years ago and particularly enjoys the methods of decorating in traditional slipware. The original Owl Charger which once graced the Leach mantelpiece has long since disappeared and Philip has accepted the challenge to respond to this historic piece, made by his grandfather, and create his own Charger to mark the relighting of the fire this autumn and the reopening of the old workshop as a working pottery studio.
Philip will be giving a talk on Thursday 18th September from 1pm to 3pm. Entry free - please book in advance on 01736 799703 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
