In order to mark Janet Leach's 100th Birthday coming up in a months time and to celebrate her contribution to the Leach Pottery we will be making small slab built forms using moulds and hand building techniques and then decorating them using expressive slip decoration, similar to her organic approach to making.
Janet Leach was originally from Texas and married Bernard Leach in 1955. She was his third wife and looked after and ran the pottery alongside him for 40 years. She had her own ideas about pottery and exhibited her work widely around the world.
This event is FREE upon entry to the museum and will take place in the Clore Learning Studio at the top of the Leach Pottery site, and is aimed for everybody to Have A GO".
