The Leach Pottery is celebrating its ‘10 Year Anniversary’; in March 2008, the fully restored and rejuvenated Leach Pottery reopened to the public after closing its doors in 2005. To thank all the people involved - especially visitors and supporters from the local community to the far reaches of the globe, the Leach Pottery is organising a series of talks, exhibitions, events, and creative sessions.
There will be three talks/panels on 30 March, hosted by Professor Simon Olding - Director of the Crafts Study Centre and Chair of the Leach Pottery's Board of Trustees.
This talk, 'The Leach Pottery Fledgling Years', focusses on the emergent years of the newly re-opened Leach Pottery. We look forward to hearing contributions from:
- Jacob Bodilly: one of the first 'Start Up Potters' in 2008, Jacob left to work at Boscean Pottery, St Just, in 2010 before relocating to Devon where he works near Holcombe Rogus
- Jack Doherty: the first Lead Potter at the Leach Pottery (2008 - 2013), establishing the Production Studio and designing a domestic range of soda-fired tableware. Now living and working in Mousehole
- Michel Francois: one of the first 'Start Up Potters' in 2008,Michel left in 2009 to set up a studio outside Helston. Michel now has a gallery and studio in Falmouth.
