Masterclass: Jim Malone
3 Day Throwing Course
11-13 September 2017, 10am-4pm
Held in the original throwing room of the Leach Pottery, you will enjoy the experience of working on the Leach Pottery's historic kick wheels.
Designed for throwers who can throw a bowl and a basic cylinder and would like to get to the next level, you will revisit familiar forms and develop them to a higher level.
Selection and discussion will form a significant part of the course - one pot will be chosen to be fired in our gas-fired reduction kilns and be returned at a later date.
Maximum number of students: 5
Cost: £300 to include all materials.
Jim Malone has been making high-fired stoneware pottery since the early 1970s and also makes some porcelain. He works alone producing a wide range of individual pottery forms.
One of Britain's foremost potters, he has exhibited widely in this country as well as in America, Germany and Hong Kong. He is included on the British Crafts Council index of selected craftsmen and is a Fellow of the Craftsman Potters Association of Great Britain.
