St Ives School of Painting & Culture Camp

The Leach Pottery works in partnership with St Ives School of Painting to help deliver Culture Camp for local young people.

Across a series of workshops the young people experience artist studio visits, arts workshops and trips to culture institutions, including the Leach Pottery. Young People gain skills, confidence, improved aspiration and a nationally recognised qualification: Bronze Arts Award. Participants explore the Leach Pottery, taking inspiration from the collection and stories to then learn a new pottery skill.

Culture Camp supports young people from local secondary schools, pupil referral units and the Community & Hospital Education Service (CHES).  All referred students from secondary schools are chosen because they are pupil premium or from low socio-economic backgrounds. The young people attending the pupil referral units are excluded from education, while others in the CHES are too ill to go to school.
