Museum Welcome Volunteer

Our Welcome Volunteers are often the first point of contact visitors have with the Leach Pottery, playing a vital role in helping visitors to feel welcome, signposting events, exhibitions and activities across the pottery, daily.

What you do as a volunteer:

  • Most importantly, give our visitors (big and small) a warm welcome, take payment for entry and issue a map of the museum

  • Letting visitors know what’s on

  • In time, learning some of the unique history of the site and sharing with interested visitors

  • Shifts are half a day a week (though some prefer a whole day). Training will be ‘on the job’ with full support until you feel confident and ready.

Skills you can bring:

·        A warm, friendly and approachable manner

·        An interest in pottery, craftsmanship and our heritage

·        A positive and flexible approach

·        Good communication skills

What we offer you:

·        Meeting friendly people, learning new skills and techniques, making a difference

·        Free entry to the Museum for you and 1 guest

·        20% discount in our beautiful shop, 10% off selected workshops

·        Free access to a number of Cornwall based arts and heritage locations including National Trust properties (14 four hour shifts needed annually)

·        Training to ensure you feel confident in your role
