Grazyna Adrian at the Leach Pottery, 2025
Grazyna Adrian is a potter based in Glasgow, where she currently works from her studio producing functional earthenware and stoneware. She studied at Clay College in Stoke-on-Trent for two years between 2022 and 2024 . In 2025, she spent three months at the Leach Pottery as a production potter, where she also created a personal body of work alongside the studio’s standard ware.
Her functional ceramics explore playful form and expressive surface decoration, combining loosely handled clay with poured and brushed white slip. Drawing inspiration from traditional English slipware, she works quickly and intuitively, encouraging the material to move freely across irregular surfaces. The pieces she produced at the Leach reflect this spirited approach, celebrating the movement and unpredictability of clay and slip in tandem.
While her focus remains on functional ware, Grazyna is beginning to explore more sculptural forms within her practice. These works grow from the same material curiosity and looseness that define her pottery, and mark an exciting new direction for future projects. She continues to develop her work from her Glasgow studio.
