Matthew Foster: Shop

Leach Pottery Studio Production Manager Matthew Foster undertook a residency in Mashiko, Japan from October - December 2024. He lived and worked in the Mashiko Museum of Ceramic Art: the original work place of Shoji Hamada, who came from Japan with Bernard Leach in 1920 to establish the Leach Pottery in St.Ives.

His Exhibition: Matthew Foster: A Mashiko Residency was presented in our Entrance Gallery from 15 February - 30 March 2025 and is now available as an Online Exhibition.

Some pieces below also include include a selection of work made for the recent Leach Studio Exhibition: A Potter’s Challenge - an exciting array of works made in response to and inspired by an object from the Museum; each potter using it to inform their creative journey.
