The Florence Bursary 2026

Applications are open for the Florence Bursary 2026

The Florence Bursary will provide the full fees for one local young person (age 18-25 years old or within 5 years of leaving the school education system) to attend a yearlong course for beginners potters at the Leach Pottery.

The bursary covers a place on the Potter’s Beginners which strives to nurture a small group of beginner potters to learn how to thrown within the ethos established by Bernard Leach. In addition, the potters will encounter broader skills such as basic glaze application and surface decoration. For full overview of course content and dates please see here.

The bursary is to support a local young person who would not normally be in a situation to invest on the opportunity.

Application Deadline is Monday 5 January 2026 at 9am. After the deadline we will be in touch to confirm recipt of your application. A selection of applicants will be invited for an informal interview.
