Centering to Turning: 3 Half Days
This course offers participants the opportunity to become acquainted with the Potter’s wheel And choose a piece to fire. This course is an extended version of the throwing taster workshops we also offer.
Day 1: clay preparation, centering clay and pulling cylinders
Day 2: pulling cylinders and bowls
Day 3: turning and basic surface decoration
No prior experience is required. With only 5 places, each participant will have plenty of one-to-one tuition and the opportunity for instruction on what you would like to develop over the duration of the course. Adults 18 years and up.
When: 11 – 13 August (morning or afternoon group)
Where: Bernard's Studio, Leach Pottery
Places: 5
Equipment & materials: Clay and a basic tool kit is provided: we focus on building core skills and working directly with the clay to get the most from a core selection of tools. Please bring additional tools if you wish to use them along with an apron and hand towel.
You will leave with: one piece that will be fired & posted to you* up to 12 weeks after the course has finished. This piece needs to be within the footprint of 20 x 20 x 20cm. Please bring a box and packing material to take a maximum of two unfired pieces away with you if you wish.
Level: beginner & intermediate

This course will be held in Bernard’s Studio unfortunately, the studio is inaccessible for wheelchair users.
