The Leach Pottery’s online shop is a department of the Leach Pottery. All our profits go to support the work of the Bernard Leach (St Ives) Trust Limited (known as the Leach Pottery), registered charity 1111263.

Bernard Leach (St Ives) Trust Limited is a company registered in England and Wales (No. 5372378) whose registered office is at The Leach Pottery, Higher Stennack, St Ives, TR26 2HE. VAT Reg. No: 104 5890 23.

The terms and conditions listed below will apply between you and the Leach Pottery for the sale and purchase of the items contained in your basket. The terms do not affect your statutory rights.

Availability of goods and prices
Goods will be sent to the address provided by you in your order and stated in the Order Confirmation. Please note, that occasionally goods ordered may be sent to you in instalments. We will make every effort to advise you (by email or phone) if this is the case.

We make every attempt to ensure that all prices on our website are accurate, however discrepancies may occur. If we discover an error in the price of goods already ordered we will inform you as soon as possible and ask that you reconfirm your order at the correct price, whilst also giving you the option to cancel it. If we are unsuccessful in contacting you we will consider the order cancelled. If we cancel your order, you will receive a full refund.

Validity
By ordering a product you accept these terms and conditions. The terms and conditions are subject to change at any time, and it is your responsibility to check these terms and conditions regularly before ordering products in case there are any changes.

Your Undertakings and Warranties
You warrant that the information given on your order form is complete and accurate.

Acknowledgement of Order
When you have completed your order you will be sent an e-mail confirmation. It will state what the products are on order, the total cost including VAT (where appropriate) and Post & Package charges, together with delivery and invoice details. If for any reason your order cannot be processed, a member of the Leach Pottery team will contact you to explain the nature of the difficulty.

Our Contract
No contract for the sale of any product will subsist between you and the Leach Pottery until the product(s) ordered have been dispatched. We will send a confirmation email when the goods have left our store. This confirmation e-mail amounts to an acceptance by the Leach Pottery of your offer to buy goods.

Where an order is to be fulfilled in instalments, those products yet to be dispatched will not form part of our contract with you. You must check that the details on this confirmatory e-mail are correct as soon as possible and you should print out and keep a copy of it.

Payment
Online payment is by Stripe - by credit or debit card - only. All credit and charge card payments made over the telephone are subject to validation checks and authorization by the card issuer. If the issuer of your payment card refuses to authorize payment to us, your order will not be accepted and the Leach Pottery will not be liable for any delay or non-delivery.

Returns
If for any reason you wish to return goods within 7 days of delivery we will be happy to arrange a replacement or exchange. Items should be returned in perfect condition at the buyer's expense. Should you wish to cancel your order within 7 days of delivery we will refund the cost of the items.

Damaged goods or incorrect deliveries
(i) the goods must be stored in appropriate conditions; if you do not store them in appropriate conditions we cannot be held responsible for faults or problems that arise as a result; (ii) any claim by you in respect of any shortages and/or defects in the goods must be notified to us by you within seven days of the delivery date, stating the nature of the shortage/defect and quoting the invoice no.; failure to so notify us will deem you to have accepted the goods. In some cases the Leach Pottery may require you to return the defective goods to the Leach Pottery at its cost. Where you make a valid claim in respect of any shortages or defects and we are liable for the claim, we can at our option make up the shortages or replace the goods free of charge, or refund the price of the goods in question to you. In addition for defective goods we will refund you reasonable costs incurred for postage of the goods, but we shall have no further liability to you. If you do not notify the Leach Pottery accordingly, the Leach Pottery shall have no liability for any defects and you shall be bound to pay for the goods.

Force Majeure
The Leach Pottery shall have no liability to you for any failure to deliver goods you have ordered or any delay in doing so or for any damage or defect to goods delivered that is caused by any event or circumstance beyond its reasonable control.

Data Protection

How we use your data

  • The Leach Pottery will never make your personal details available to third parties.

  • We will only retain details for as long as they are useful for the Leach Pottery to contact you.

  • We will keep a record of your address details with the intention of sending your order from our shop.

  • No credit or debit card information will be held by the Leach Pottery.

  • Information you enter into our registration forms may be collected and stored by us so that we may contact you in relation to the nature of an attempted transaction, even if you do not confirm the transaction. This may be used to send operational emails to enquire as to why the purchase was not completed.

  • Our aim is simply to provide you with the highest level of service that we can.

Courses & Classes

Across 2024 – 2025 the Leach Pottery is undertaking capital building works to improve the site for future potters. Find out more here.

During the building project aspects of the Adult Learning programme will take place at the Newlyn School of Art. Courses will continue to offer supportive teaching sensitive to the Leach ethos in the beautiful equipped studio at Newlyn School of Art.

Once more is known about the building requirements, we hope to release additional course dates taking place at the Leach Pottery alongside our programme at Newlyn School of Art.

  • We do not accept enrolments on our Adult Programme from anyone under the age of 18 years.

  • The Leach Pottery is not liable for any loss or damage to participant’s personal property.

  • The Leach Pottery takes the upmost care with all ceramics made during workshops. However, in the unlikely event of breakages or loss either during or after workshops, firing and postage, there is no reimbursement in this event.

  • Places on courses are allocated on a first to pay, first served basis, we cannot guarantee your place on a course prior to receipt of full payment.

  • The Pottery is entitled to change the timing and/or content of any course and to substitute any teacher at any time.

  • If collection, instead of postage, is arranged for the outcomes of a course, they must be collected within 1 calendar month of notification and will not be kept any longer by the Leach Pottery.

Participant Code of Conduct

  • Disruptive, abusive or inappropriate behaviour, language or threatening behaviour towards staff, volunteers or other participants will result in the participant being asked to leave the workshop. The workshop fee will not be reimbursed in this event.

  • Participants’ attendance is to be punctual (unless prevented by events which are beyond reasonable control.)

  • Participants must comply with all rules and regulations issued by the Leach Pottery and pay particular attention to any requirements regarding dress or the wearing of protective equipment. Closed toe shoes should be worn at all times, long hair tied back and any jewellery removed.

  • Participants are asked to leave the learning spaces as they find them.

Limitation of Liability
Although we take every care to ensure accuracy, we make no warranties as to the accuracy of the information we place on our web pages. The extent of our liability for any breach of these terms and conditions shall be limited to the value of the goods ordered by you in the relevant transaction, however nothing in these terms and conditions shall exclude or limit the Leach Pottery’s liability for death or personal injury as a result of the Leach Pottery’s negligence.

Invalidity of Terms and Conditions
If for any reason part of these terms and conditions is unenforceable; the validity of the remaining terms and conditions shall not be affected.

Cancellation Policy
By booking onto a workshop, the participant agrees to the Leach Pottery’s Cancellation Policy.

If a cancellation is required, please contact the Leach Pottery as soon as possible by email charmaine.orkamfat@leachpottery.com, Imogen Kempton adult.programme@leachpottery.com, or ellen.love@leachpottery.com. If an email from the Leach Pottery confirming the cancellation has not been received within 5 working days, please phone the Leach Pottery on 01736 799703.

Cancellations received 8 weeks or more from the beginning of the workshop start date:

The person billed for the workshop will be refunded 90% of the price paid for the workshop.

Cancellations received less than 8 weeks before the beginning of a workshop start date:

  • Cancellations received less than 8 weeks before the beginning of a workshop start date are non-refundable.

  • If a participant is unable to attend the entirety of the workshop they have paid for, no reduced rates or refunds are offered.

  • Please note: The Leach Pottery is unable to hold payments to secure a place on another workshop.

  • Workshops purchased as gifts are subject to the same cancellation policy.

Cancellation of workshops by the Leach Pottery

  • A minimum of half of the workshop capacity is required for a workshop to take place.

  • The Leach Pottery is not liable to cover travel or accommodation costs a participant may incur as a result of the Leach Pottery’s cancellation or otherwise.

  • If a workshop is cancelled due to reasons out of the Leach Pottery’s control i.e. tutor illness and a replacement is not available, extreme weather, onsite fire and the Leach Pottery is unable to rearrange the workshop date to suit all participants, participants will be offered a full refund of the value of the cancelled workshop (or value of days missed if a workshop is partially cancelled). If the participant wishes to book onto a future workshop the Leach Pottery cannot guarantee workshop dates.

  • The Leach Pottery reserves the right to cancel any workshop at short notice. In this unlikely event, participants will be notified as soon as possible.
