Leach on the Beach

Wednesday 28 & Thursday 29 May, 11am-4pm Porthminster Beach, the North End (by the Pedn Olva Hotel)

Join the Leach Pottery on Porthminster Beach in St Ives at our pop-up pottery studio. Bring clay together with elements of the beach to make a collection of clay-based experiments and play, see what you can create!

Sand Roller
Just like the patterned rollers potters use to roll across their pots, experiment with much larger versions as you roll patterns into the sand.

Clay Castles
Build with clay and make kingdoms in the sand

Sand pots
Experiment bringing the smooth clay and the rough sand together as you make beautifully textured pots.

This free workshop is drop-in, and therefore no need for booking your place. The focus of this workshop is to experiment and play with clay alongside sand and therefore no outcomes will be fired. Small paper bags will be provided should anyone wish to take their creations home but please note once the clay is dry. It does not have a long shelf life unfired.

This workshop takes place on the beach and therefore there is limited coverage from the weather. Please dress weather appropriately.

In the event of poor weather cancellation of the event will be advertised on our website and social media. A drop-in workshop will be held at the Leach Pottery instead across the same times.

The workshop takes place on the sandy beach so please dress appropriately for potential sun, wind and rain.

If you can’t access the marquee on the sandy beach please email Neil at takepart@leachpottery.com and the activity can be brought to you at an arranged time and place.
