John Mackenzie: Shop

Born and raised in Cornwall, John has always had a close affinity to the sea and rugged coastline of West Penwith.

‘The forms I make are a direct response to my environment; I aim to make work which intimately communicates the elemental processes that they have been through’

John has continued with his passion for wood-fired ceramics and explores the extreme firing process by developing his own clays, glazes and slips which respond to the flame, ember and ash. He recently completed building a new wood-firing kiln near Gweek in Cornwall.
