Mark joined Muchelney Pottery in 1991 where he trained for three years with John Leach and Nick Rees. He went on to spend time in Africa, then set up his own pottery near Bath. In 2002 he returned to Muchelney as a full-time member of the crew. After John died in 2021, he became the sole potter; responsible for producing the complete kitchenware range and carrying on the Muchelney Pottery legacy.
Mark's personal work sees him regularly experimenting with form and surface decoration, with influences coming from African and English country pottery. He has a small workshop space where he throws, then fires his work alongside the Muchelney kitchenware pots in the three-chambered wood-fired kiln, giving his pots their beautiful rich glazes.
In 2024, Mark had two pots – a jug and bowl – acquired by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London as part of their permanent ceramics collection.
