Mulchelney Pottery
The pottery was set up in 1965 by John Leach, eldest grandson of Bernard Leach, with whom he did part of his apprenticeship. He designed what has become an iconic range of woodfired stoneware pots based on the simple strength of English country pottery. It has been produced and sold for nearly 60 years.
After John died in August 2021, Mark Melbourne became the sole potter at Muchelney Pottery and is now responsible for producing the complete kitchenware range. John's eldest son Ben Leach took over the running of the business along with Rachael Rees who manages the office.
The 'pottery crew' are continuing in the ethos of John's designs and working practices, carrying on the rich pottery tradition he created at Muchelney.
