Muneaki Iwashita
Muneaki Iwashita
Muneaki Iwashita, born in Mashiko in 1986, is a 6th generation potter whose family has been potting since 1866. Muneaki aims to express himself through the materials and techniques found in Mashiko. He also makes works with the theme of healing in everyday life, and a Tapir as the motif, in the hope that it will create the feeling of happiness.
During the summer of 2022 he, along with his fellow Mashiko potter Too Enokida, came to the Leach Pottery as part of the Leach 100 Residency programme. They apprenticed alongside the Production Potters in the Leach Pottery Studio, where they trained on selected forms from the Standard Ware range, as well as producing their own work.
