I love working with porcelain for its clarity and the way it draws light.  I use inlay and slips and soda-fire the work for the warmth it imparts.

My first ceramics teacher was John Eden, an Englishman.  His friendship with Bryan and Julia Newman led me to their studio in Somerset for a short apprenticeship in 1973.  I returned to my native state of Minnesota and worked with Jeff Oestreich just after he had returned from his apprenticeship at the Leach Pottery.  I've now come full circle as Jeff and I had a joint residency and exhibition at the Leach Pottery in 2014.  What a tremendous experience to return to England and my earliest influences.

My work has been shown in numerous solo and group shows.  I live in Portland, Oregon.
