Peter Swanson

Peter moved to St. Ives with his family in 1974, where they set up the Barrie Alexander Ceramics, producing slip-cast decorative items. Peter established his own pottery in 1976 in Breage, Cornwall, later moving to Rosudgeon, near Penzance.

Over the years, his style has evolved and he now works in reduction-fired stoneware and porcelain. He uses a clay body made from local materials and produces his own ash glazes.

In 2004, Peter built a wood-fired Anagama kiln which allows him to explore surface decoration not possible with his gas-fired kiln.
