Hamish Jackson
Hamish Jackson
Hamish joined the Leach Learning team in September 2025. He is helping organise and run adult classes and workshops. It has long been a dream of his to work at this storied institution.
Hamish began throwing at Winchcombe Pottery in the Cotswolds, then moved to North Carolina to complete a four-year apprenticeship with Mark Hewitt, followed by a Master of Fine Arts in ceramics at Utah State University. He has exhibited and taught in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and New Zealand.
A core element of Hamish’s pottery is the use of local materials. His current work involves a blend of earthenware clays that he has foraged for and dug around Cornwall. He seeks to make pots that people love to use and connect them to the landscapes where the materials come from. Hamish is always on the hunt for clay, so if you have any tips, please let him know!
