National Lottery Open Week: Free workshops

Due to our current National Lottery Heritage Fund supported restoration project in the historic museum, we welcome players to our free workshops which we hold in place free admission to our museum. 

The Leach Pottery thanks National Lottery players for your support with a collection of free workshops taking place at the Leach Pottery across Saturday 7 March.

Join us to make your own pot using the approach of Kurinuki.

In this taught workshop, you’ll learn the basics of kurinuki carving, explore texture and form, and create a small sculptural vessel such as a cup or bowl. No prior pottery experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to experiment!

All materials and tools are provided. Finished pieces will be fired and glazed by Leach Pottery and available for pickup within 12 weeks of the course.

A Talk & Introduction to Dry point Etching

Drop-in to find out more about Bernard Leach a printmaker and have a go at your own dry point etching.

Bernard Leach is best known as a pioneering figure in British studio pottery, but his creative practice extended far beyond clay. This casual workshop explores Leach as a printmaker, offering insight into his graphic work and introducing participants to the printmaking technique of dry point etching.

All materials are provided and participants will leave with a print of their own Leach-inspired etching.

This free workshop is drop-in, and therefore no need for booking your place. We work to accommodate all who arrive for these workshops. We assure you there is no need to arrive early and a later arrival achieves a more relaxed flow of participants and calmer environment. Last admissions 30 mins before the end of the workshop.
